Authentic traditional Indian recipe made with pre-measured Indian Spices. Beef cubes or beef crumbles are marinated in vinegar and ethnic spices and slow-cooked in oven. This Indian Vindaloo curry dish is similar to Chicken Vindaloo or Lamb Vindaloo recipes
Prep time: 3-4 hours; Cook time: 20-30 mins; Serves 4-6
INGREDIENTS FOR MARINATING BEEF VINDALOO:
- Boned Beef Chuck (cut in 1" cubes) - 2 LBs
- Peeled and chopped ginger - 2"
- Peeled and chopped garlic - 2-3 cloves
- White vinegar -1/2 cup
- Salt (as per taste) - 1 tsp to 1.5 tsp
- Lime juice - 1.5 Tbsp
- Flavor Temptations Beef Vindaloo Spice Mix (contains 5 flavor blends) - 1
STEPS TO MARINATE TRADITIONAL BEEF VINDALOO:
- In a bowl, whisk to together vinegar, ginger, garlic salt, lime juice
- Add Blend #5 (Marinade mix), and Blend #2 (powders)
- Mix in Blend #3 (Cayenne) adjusting to preferred spice level: (Hot: add all of it; Medium: add half of it; Mild: do not add any)
- Add beef cubes and toss to cover beef evenly
- Cover and marinate 2-3 hours at room temperature or refrigerate overnight
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE TRADITIONAL BEEF VINDALOO CURRY SAUCE:
- Canola oil - 3 Tbsp
- Finely chopped onions - 1 cup
- Canned tomato puree - 2 cups
- Chopped cilantro (optional) - 6-8 stems
STEPS TO MAKE VINDALOO SAUCE:
- In a pan, heat oil, add Blend #1 (Seeds) and step back to allow seeds to burst and sputter, releasing their flavors
- Add onions and cook for 2-3 mins on medium heat until soft and transparent
- Add marinated beef and cook on medium heat until beef is no longer pink on the outside
- Stir in tomato puree and cook until beef is tender
- Sprinkle Blend #4 (Garam Masala) and simmer 2-3 mins
- Garnish with chopped cilantro(optional)
SERVING SUGGESTIONS FOR TRADITIONAL BEEF VINDALOO:
Serve hot over bed of long-grained or naan bread
