Vegetable rice is also called Vegetable Pulao or pulav. This can be made as pure Cumin rice or Jeera rice if vegetables are not added.
Prep time: 10 mins; Cook time: 20 mins; Serves 2
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE VEGETABLE RICE PULAO:
- Chopped vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans) - 1 cup
- Long-grained or Basmati rice (washed and drained) - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1.25 cups

Flavor Temptations Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Flavor Temptations Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste - 1.5 tsp
- Canola oil - 1 Tbsp
STEPS TO MAKE VEGETABLE RICE:
- Heat oil in skillet on medium heat, lightly brown cumin seeds
- Add chopped vegetables, and turmeric powder, stir fry 3-5 minutes.
- Add rice, stir fry until the moisture evaporates
- Add water and salt, cook covered until rice is ready (Note: you could cook mixture in a rice cooker if you like)
SERVING SUGGESTIONS FOR VEGETABLE PULAV:
Serve as a side with any meat or vegetarian dishes

Can I use Curry powder instead of individual spice blends?
Technically, you could use Curry powder or a common spice mix. However, this would not provide the authentic taste of traditional spice layering technique that is unique to Indian cooking
